Passing is a fundamental skill that requires precision and quick decision-making. Begin with the wall pass drill. Stand six feet away from a wall and practice chest passes, bounce passes, and overhead passes against the wall. Perform 50 repetitions of each type of pass, aiming for a specific target on the wall to improve accuracy.
Next, incorporate the partner passing drill. Work with a partner and practice passing back and forth while moving laterally across the court. Focus on delivering crisp passes and receiving the ball in a ready position. Gradually increase the distance between you and your partner to build strength and accuracy over longer distances.
Finally, use the fast-break passing drill to simulate game scenarios. Start with three players: one passer, one runner, and one defender. The passer and runner work together to move the ball up the court while avoiding the defender. Rotate roles every five minutes. This drill improves timing, communication, and decision-making under pressure.
