Full-Court Sprint Drills for Speed and Stamina

Basketball requires explosive speed and sustained stamina. Begin with baseline-to-baseline sprints. Sprint from one baseline to the other at maximum effort, then jog back at 50% speed. Repeat this sequence 10 times, taking a 30-second break after every two sprints. Your goal should be to complete each sprint in under 8 seconds. After finishing the first round, move on to suicides: start at the baseline, sprint to the free-throw line and back, then to half-court and back, followed by the far free-throw line and back, and finally the opposite baseline and back. Perform five sets of suicides, aiming to complete each set within 30 seconds. Rest for one minute between sets. Gradually increase the number of repetitions each week. Another effective drill is the "3-minute endurance test." Run laps around the court for three minutes, counting how many full laps you can complete. Set a baseline number, then aim to improve by one lap each week.
